First Line Friday: The Captured Bride

First Line Friday: The Captured Bride

The squawk of crows jerked Mercy awake—but not fully.

Mercy Lytton is a lady like none other. Raised amongst the Mohawks, she straddles two cultures, yet each are united in one cause. . .to defeat the French. Born with a rare gift of unusually keen eyesight, she is chosen as a scout to accompany a team of men on a dangerous mission. Yet it is not her life that is threatened. It is her heart.  Condemned as a traitor, Elias Dubois faces the gallows. At the last minute, he is offered his freedom if he consents to accompany a stolen shipment of French gold to a nearby fort—but he is the one they stole it from in the first place. It turns out that the real thief is the beguiling woman, Mercy Lytton, for she steals his every waking thought.

I hope you have a relaxing weekend. 🙂❤📖

Happy Friday! I LOVED The Captured Bride! Today I’m sharing the first lines from Simply Starstruck by Aspen Hadley: “It’s funny in life how you never recognize a big moment when it’s actually happening.”

Happy Friday! On my blog, I’m sharing the anthology Romancing the Rancher’s Daughter. Here I will share the first line in Chapter 21 in the second story, A Measure of Mercy by Debra E. Marvin. When dampness kept Witt’s shirt stuck to his back, and a much more feminine glisten shone on Addy’s brow, he motioned her away from the dance floor in favor of refreshments and a much-needed break. Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Friday! My first line is from “Cold Pursuit” by Gayla K. Hiss:

“Faith Chandler stared at the man walking in the distance.”
