My Review
This was an interesting book to read. It takes place in South Russia in 1914. The story follows a couple different families and their lives and how the war affected them. It was a little hard to follow and was a bit choppy. I felt like it bounced from person to person a little. I was drawn into the story and wanted to find out what happened. I enjoyed getting to know the Hildebrandts and Johann very much. I especially liked Katarina. She was someone I would enjoy being friends with.
I enjoyed this historical aspects of the story. I didn’t know a lot about the Mennnonites and their part in the war. It made me want to do more research. I liked the strong faith throughout the book.
I recommend this book to my family and friends.
