The Long Journey of Jake Palmer by James Rubart

Amazon Review:

Corporate trainer Jake Palmer coaches people to see deeper into themselves—yet he barely knows himself anymore. Recently divorced and weary of the business life, Jake reluctantly agrees to a lake-house vacation with friends, hoping to escape for ten days. When he arrives, Jake hears the legend of Willow Lake—about a lost corridor that leads to a place where one’s deepest longings will be fulfilled. Jake scoffs at the idea, but can’t shake a sliver of hope that the corridor is real. And when he meets a man who mutters cryptic speculations about the corridor, Jake is determined to find the path, find himself, and fix his crumbling life.  But the journey will become more treacherous with each step Jake takes.

My Reivew:
I like to read books by Jim Rubart slowly. He writes in a way that if you read it to fast, you will miss important facts and truths. It’s one of those books that you read and then keep thinking about it. It’s a visual tangible story of what happens in the mind and heart of Jake Palmer.  That’s the joy of story telling. Being able to share Truth in a way that is less likely to offend but still convict.
In this story, Jake believes that if he gets the one thing he desires back, his life will be perfect and he will matter. He hears about this place that will make his heart’s desire come true.  I think that is something that everyone has to deal with at some point or another.  Its easy to let what everyone thinks of you dictate how you view yourself. I know for me personally that is something that I’ve had to work on.
One of the things I love is how relatable these character’s are to the reader. For example, when Jake was explaining to Susie about his mother, I felt tears in my eyes. It clearly describe how one event can be a stepping stone to shape your life. It’s that depth of character writing that makes this story relatable.  It was not all sad. There was some fun
mixed in throughout this story. Like poker night 🙂 I don’t want to give any more spoilers so you’ll just have to read this book and see for your self. 🙂
The Long Journey to Jake Palmer is an amazing book. It’s very thought proviking and full of the Lord’s truth. I recommend this book to my family and friends.
I recieved this book from Netgalley as a reveiw book for my honest opinion.
